I think I got it. The term “micro blogging” for Twitter is actually misleading. It’s more like a gigantic chat room but you choose who you listen to. And one of the properties of a chat always has been that people who aren’t actually participating have problems with understanding. Show people an IRC log and look into questioning faces. See the same, when you show search results for a twitter hashmark.
